A Swyft Filings Alternative Priced Once a Year, Not Four Times
Iowa registered agent representation, billed at $99 per year. Includes the office address on your filings, same-day scanning of legal mail, and reminders for state deadlines.
Before any arithmetic: this page is ours. IA Registered Agent.org sells the Iowa service in the right-hand column and has an obvious interest in how the numbers land. The Swyft Filings figures are published by Swyft Filings and were confirmed in July 2026, so treat those as the reliable half.
Paying in Pieces Is Not Automatically Wrong
Some businesses genuinely prefer smaller charges spread through the year, and a company that spaces its billing is not doing anything underhanded. Swyft Filings publishes its cadence, the service performs the statutory job, and plenty of customers have no complaint at all. If quarterly outflows suit how you manage cash, that preference is legitimate and we are not going to argue you out of it.
The Figure Worth Comparing Is About $596
Swyft Filings charges $149 for registered agent service, billed every quarter. Four of those in a twelve month stretch lands you at roughly $596. Nothing resembling an opening discount appeared when we checked, so that annual figure covers the first year as well as the ones after it.
Here is why the cadence matters even if you like paying in pieces. Every other price on an Iowa comparison page is annual. When one entry is quoted per quarter and the rest are quoted per year, the eye reads $149 next to $125 and $99 and files it somewhere in the middle. Converted to the same unit it is the largest yearly outlay in the field, by a wide margin, for a duty that does not vary between providers.
| Measured over | Swyft Filings | IA Registered Agent.org |
|---|---|---|
| One quarter | $149 | Not billed quarterly |
| One year | ~$596 | $99 |
| Number of charges a year | 4 | 1 |
Roughly $497 a year of daylight, for identical statutory work.
One Invoice, One Number
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereWe bill $99 once a year and that is the whole billing relationship. Nothing prorates, nothing recurs mid-quarter, and the renewal notice carries the same figure as the receipt from your first day. Service of process delivered to our Iowa office is imaged and emailed before the day is out, your filings carry our Iowa street address, and alerts go out ahead of every odd-year report window. If you also want ordinary business mail scanned, that is $15 an item and it is disclosed here rather than discovered later.
Because this page rests on arithmetic, here is the number that does not flatter us. BetterLegal publishes $90 a year, below our $99. We are close to the floor of published Iowa pricing without standing on it, and the part we will defend is that our figure never changes shape.
Two Iowa Filings, Two Very Different Prices
It is worth seeing Iowa's actual fee structure next to a vendor's, because the state is remarkably cheap about all of this. Iowa asks a limited liability company for exactly two recurring interactions. The first is the biennial report. Odd-numbered years only, submitted between January 1 and April 1, at $30 if you file it in Fast Track Filing and $45 if you send paper, under Iowa Code § 489.212. The second is telling the state who your agent is, and that one is free.
So the filing you are required to make costs money, and the filing you choose to make costs nothing. Changing agents means sending form 635_0119 to the Iowa Secretary of State's business filings arm, the Business Services Division, on paper or online, at no cost to an LLC. Line up the new agent before you send it, because the form records an incoming appointment rather than a vacancy, and Iowa expects your record to show an agent continuously. Once the state's business search reflects the change, cancel the Swyft subscription; timing that cancellation near a quarter boundary is a billing choice that has no bearing on the filing. The full walkthrough sits on our Iowa change of agent page, and the biennial report guide covers the other one.
